Practical. Honest. Focused On What Matters.

Husband. Businessman. Public Servant.

Doug Harwell brings real-world experience to public service.

Doug Harwell is a lifelong resident of Mobile County and the kind of leader who doesn’t just talk about community—he’s lived it every day of his life. He’s a graduate of Mary G. Montgomery High School and earned his degree in business from the University of Mobile while working full-time and raising a family. Doug started his career the old-fashioned way—hourly job, hard work, no shortcuts. He went on to build his own small business, Harwell & Company, which has served communities across South Alabama with concrete and asphalt contracting work for years.

Doug served nearly 12 years on the Mobile County School Board, representing the people of Semmes, Citronelle, and the northwest corner of the county. During his time there, he fought for neighborhood schools, pushed for more hands-on career training for students, and brought more transparency to how decisions were made. He’s not interested in politics for politics’ sake—he just believes we owe the next generation a better shot.

Doug has been married to his wife, Sandy, for more than 30 years. They’ve raised three sons, and now they’re proud grandparents to a growing crew of grandkids. He’s also spent nearly three decades serving in leadership at his local church. Faith, family, and service aren’t just words on a yard sign for Doug—they’re how he’s lived his life.

Now, he’s ready to take that same approach to Montgomery.

Practical. Honest. Focused on what matters.
